Cleaning, Sealing, and Maintenence
Caring for quartzite is similar to caring for granite!
Clean: Simply clear off your countertops and use a gentle cleanser, water, and a soft cloth or paper towel. It is good practice to use coasters, cooling racks, cutting boards, trays, or other methods to preserve the beauty of your stone. Although it is likely fine, we don’t want your knives to dull! We also recommend wiping up spills as quickly as possible to prevent the absorption in the stone.
Sealing: We highly recommend sealing your stone to increase stain resistance. Depending on how porous your stone’s composition is, you may need to seal more frequently. We sell a variety of cleaning and sealing products in our showroom and are happy to assist you with selecting the right products!

Known for its beautiful swooping veins like marble and tough makeup like granite, Quartzite is a wonderful option for natural stone countertops. Quartzite begins its journey initially as sandstone, but through the process of high temperature and pressurization, it transforms into this one-of-a-kind, durable material. When heated, individual quartz pieces recrystallize into beautiful sparkling composites within the stone.
Quartzite is nearly twice as hard as glass and harder than the blade of a knife. It is also resistant to common kitchen acids and will not etch when exposed to things like lemon juice or vinegar. Consider quartzite countertops for its’ beauty, strength, and durability!
When do I need to reseal?
A good rule is to monitor the area around your sink. When you start to see darker areas lasting for a longer amount of time, that means the water is absorbing and your stone needs to be re-sealed. Make sure the area is completely clean and dry before applying the sealer.
Finishes
Quartzite comes in either a polished, leathered or honed finish. Not all vendors offer all three types of finishes so be sure to check finish options prior to purchasing your slabs. Please understand that Honed and leathered finishes will require more daily maintenance than polished
Slabs
Quartzite slabs are a beautiful way to add value and personality to your home. They vary greatly in price depending on color, availability, and country of origin. A typical slab is seven to ten feet long. Depending on your layout there is a possibility of having seams. Slab seams are filled with a matching color epoxy making them more durable than grout seams. We adjust the template layout to make the stone’s movement continue through the seamed area to the best of our ability.
There are limited options of edge profiles to select from, flat eased edge and T-profile. Mineral deposits, pockmarks, fissures, and pits are all naturally occurring in some stones. These can affect the material’s ability to accept a polish, occasionally creating dull spots. These are not defects of the stone, they are characteristics that remind you that you have a beautiful naturally formed rock, not a manufactured product…think of them as freckles.
